Today, using cell phones people can make calls from anywhere and at anytime using the high-quality services of cellular companies.

The first cell phone that came into existence was huge and cost a fortune. It meant that only the wealthy people could afford to purchase and use them. In 1985, the cost of a cell phone was about $6000 and was a status symbol. Today, one can easily find purchase cell phones for as low as $50, meaning that everyone could afford a cell phone and today a major portion of US population cannot do without a cell phone. The cellular technology has been a boon for most of the industries, but there is one industry that is finding it difficult to deal with the menace of cell phones and that industry is the prison and correctional facilities. Prisons are finding it harder to control the use of contraband cell phones inside the prison that has threatened the lives of many people. Inmates are being involved in illegal use of cell phones and carrying out illegal activities even after being behind bars. It has led the prison departments to find ways to curb their uses.

Securus Technologies has introduced their Wireless Containment Systems in prisons that help the correctional officials to manage the calls that come and go out of their prisons. The system created a local cellular network in prisons and allows only approved numbers to make and receive calls. It means that all contraband cell phones that the inmates might be hiding will be useless since any calls that they try to make will be disconnected.

One of the people that are helping set up more of these Wireless Containment System by Securus Technologies in prisons is Robert is Robert Johnson. He worked at a prison and was responsible for preventing illegal trading inside the prison. After catching a drug consignment amounting to $50,000, he was the victim of an attack in his home. The inmate responsible for the attack had given out a contract on his name using a contraband cell phone. But, Robert survived and is currently part of the sales team of Securus Technologies.
